Zach Walker chalked up his 4th Open title in 5 years by defeating a
rapidly improving Michael Tillman 2-1 in Alexandria,Virginia, on June
5th. Walker would need OT to secure the title as Tillman pushed him hard
with a composed and skillful performance that suggests he will return
as a serious contender in future years. Close games in the semi finals
saw Tillman defeat reigning champion Daniel Cranston, and Walker defeat
Paul Eyes. Eyes would defeat Cranston in a low key 3rd / 4th place
game.
In the other categories, Michael Tillman won his first U19
title in his final eligible year, beating close rival Stuart Russell
2-0. Paul Eyes regained the Veterans championship in a very tight final
contest (1-0) with Alex Batacchi of Florida.
Team play on Sunday
saw Maryland again prevail in the Virginia Cup. Matt Steinmuller was a
rookie on the MSC first team, but responded with a superb 3 win and 1
tie record out of his 4 matches. Including a crucial 1-0 lead against
Gregg Deinhart (at the half) of WTSL in a pivotal game of the event.
Maryland finished first in a field of 5 teams.
In the final
(unofficial) Red Hat (event sponsors) Open tournament on Sunday, Rick
Wilcox displayed his enduring quality with a last gasp 1-0 victory over
Tillman.
Congratulations to WTSL for doing a fine job of hosting
the Nationals weekend.

The
intention of this article is to inform you of my desire to resign as ASA
President. My life outside of Subbuteo
leaves me without the appropriate time and desire to continue on in this role
with the dedication that it deserves. Over the last 10 months since my wife and I had our second child I have found
myself with less time to dedicate to the ASA than I had anticipated when I ran for a second term.

will gather all of the donations and send them on to the Red Cross.
Note: Players under 18 do not have to send a donation.
- If you are a member of a Subbuteo/Table Soccer club please encourage all the other members of the club to take part.
- If you play with friends and family then please encourage them to take part.
- If there are no other Subbuteo players near you then you can play solo games.
What is important is that you play Subbuteo on the day, even if it is only
one game.
If you would like to take part contact us using the Contact page on the
Southern California Subbuteo Club's website
here»
For more information check the Subbuteo across America micro site
here»
