Wayne Smith lost his first ever match in the Maricopa Cup, to Kevin Nieman, in Round 3 of the 2008 Cup, held recently in Simi Valley, California. The win took three and a half years of patient flicking, (as well as a warped pitch) for Nieman to defeat Smith for the first time.
