The third annual California State Championship was played on Saturday August 15 in Simi Valley.

This year's winners were:
- State Champion - Wayne Smith
- Missions trophy - Jason Mitchell
- Sierras trophy - Dominic Hutchinson

Wayne Smith crushed all before him and won the State Championship for the third straight year.

The battle for second place was fiercely competitive and went down to a three way race in the last round of games between Jason Mitchell, Kevin Nieman, who was last year's runner up,  and Simon Hutchinson, runner up in 2007.  Nieman and Simon needed to win their games against John Carroll and David Jensen to move above Mitchell into second place, but they could only draw.  Despite losing his last game to Smith, Mitchell remained in second place to claim the Missions trophy (see left).

Dominic Hutchinson was awarded the Sierras trophy as the only under 19 player present at the tournament.  He also deserves an honorable mention for his performance.  While he lost all of his game he only did so by a single goal, in all but one game when he lost by two which included an own goal, and frustrated many of the other players with his defense.
