I have a astroturf pitch and Brian and Javier next door (really next door) have a cloth pitch.

Let me know ahead of time when you might be able to come play. Will also get in touch with the guys next door as will be fun.

My pitch is a tall one with narrow sidelines and is fun to play.

We would have had two more pitches soon but missed out on the good price and shipping and will wait till later I reckon.

Had an interesting conversation with Neil from S.C. UK.

Seems G2-A bases are going the way of the Ultima Raptor and the G2-F.... they can still be made but they're not cost effective to make in small quantities, so I wouldn't count on getting any new ones.  Your best bet is to hope to find someone with an old set who wants to sell.  I did find a set of old Ultima Raptors on Itallian eBay the other day, white bases with yellow discs.

BUT

He also said that he's got plans to come up with a completely new style of base in the future, not another version of a Raptor.  Also that colored Glaciers could be on the horizon, and that glacier bases are quite similar to the G2-A in material -they just don't have the high quality lacquer job because they don't need it, where the G2-A does since it gets a custom paint job.

Anyway... it was a very interesting conversation, to learn the history of the Raptor line...  and the vibe I got was that the chief reason that those bases are no longer available is because the materials required make it difficult for them to be machined properly to the extent that the bases are all high quality and meet his standards, which is a philosophy I can get behind - anyone who's suffered at the hands of a set of disappointing profibases can attest.  And colored Glaciers is a pretty interesting concept.

I like the Glaciers.  I wouldn't say they are as good as the G2-A, but they are definitely better than the standard G2.  Colored glaciers would be good for those that like the G2, but don't want to spend too much money.

A new base style from Corda is interesting.  Hell, Jeremy, the SLSL is sponsored by Corda and you got the inside dope first.  I guess Neil's mad at me because I switched to Rex-Cs.   Wink Grin (just kidding Neil.)

Heh, well, I was making an order for a couple LD kits and offhandedly wondered about the status of the G2-A, as I was wanting a set with one of the kits I was ordering, and since we have been discussing them here recently.  Then again I off-handedly asked if he knew of a way that I could get my hands on a set of the old school Ultima Raptors because they seem to be pretty valuable for nostalgic reasons.  So he said he wasn't going to be making the G2-A bases anymore and that he was trying to come up with an entirely new style of base (still purely conceptual at this point, and not any time soon...for the distant future,) but that the colored Glaciers are a logical progression for the Raptor line. So a couple offhand questions wound up resulting in a very informative and timely conversation.  And since I love talking about bases, I ate it up.
